"Ask Aggie"
By Aggie Karafas

Q: I am worried about my grades. I study and even go to the teachers for extra help after school, but I cannot get my grade up! What else can I do?

A: It is great you are going to tutoring but sometimes it is hard to get all your questions answered there since usually there are a lot of students who also go to tutoring. You could try setting up individual tutoring sessions with the teacher or finding an outside tutor. You could also give yourself extra practice problems from the book or find some online.

Q: My boyfriend and I recently got into an argument. We have had arguments before and gotten over them, but this time it is different and I don’t know if we can get over this one. How can I fix this?

A: You cannot fix it alone. A relationship is a two way street; you have to 'give' to 'get.' You both have to want it to work for it to be a healthy relationship. Tell him what you are thinking and that you still want the relationship to work. Sometimes it won’t work and that’s just a fact of life, but if you don’t tell him how you feel about it, then nothing will happen and the relationship will fall apart. It takes two people to argue and it also takes two people to get over an argument.

We all need advice sometimes! Anyone who could benefit from the advice of Aggie and the Neuse and Observer staff members can submit a question via the contact box on the home page of this website, or by anonymously dropping off a question in the submission envelope outside of Miss McInnis' room in the high school building at NCS.
